About US

The Girls for Change Organization (GCF) is a registered non-governmental organization established in 2015 primarily to promote the rights of women and girls, strive to combat violence against women and girls, advocate to ensure advance participation including the empowerment of girls who become pregnant, drop out of school, fall behind academically, usually never return, and become trapped in a cycle of poverty.

GCF leverages the expertise of its dedicated staff and volunteers to optimize the use of a blend of the gender-sensitive lens through programs and activities ranging from empowerment, community-and rights-based approaches and Early Childhood Development Centers and a context-based approach that finds a specific fit for a specific problem.

Through the Gender Justice Clubs, the GCF endeavors to address and put an end to the menace of lack of access to equal opportunities for women and girls by employing an innovative approach that connects literate and numerate Liberian women with these at-risk girls to serve as tutor-mentors.

Disturbed by the statistics that referenced Liberia as the country with one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in the world at 31% for 15-19-year-olds, which goes to say that many teenage girls have either given birth or are currently pregnant, the GCF has overtime employed a blend of holistic philosophy and actions to implement programs depending on the context, best practice, and programmatic experience.

Our focus is to ensure that the rates of teen pregnancy are significantly diminished, pregnant girls can get access to education and empowerment, never fall behind academically due to pregnancy, and have vulnerable girls and their children redeemed from the scourge of poverty and neglect which they are often trapped in.
